Dance Classes
Dianne’s School of Dance and Super Starz Dance Center offer more fields of dance than any other schools in the South.
Ballet
This graceful, flowing, and precise form of dance requires discipline and dedication. Dancers develop beautiful lines and nice body placement. Ballet will make you a better dancer – which is why, it is highly suggested!
Dance Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, pink split sole ballet shoes, hair in a bun.
Jazz
Classes include stretch, across the floor, and center floor combinations. Children enrolled in these courses not only learn dancing techniques but show improvements in their self-esteem.
Dance Attire: Any kind of dance wear, tan jazz gore boot. No t-shirts or baggy clothes. We must see our body lines.
Tap
This class includes bar, across the floor, and center floor combinations. Rhythm, tempo, and timing are encouraged through basic techniques and floor progressions advancing to combinations.
Dance Attire: Black tap shoes. Shorts and a top (No long pants or jeans). Long shorts, such as capris, are allowed.
Clogging
Hoyt Starkey teaches the art of clogging at our school. His enthusiastic attitude and talent help develop your child’s dance abilities to the fullest. Students learn variations of steps, which are fun and challenging!
Dance Attire: White clogging shoes. Shorts and a top (No long pants or jeans). Long shorts, such as capris, are allowed.
Pompon
Pom is one of the fastest growing forms of dance. Along with quick, sharp moves, your child will also be learning the latest style of jazz.
Dance Attire: Dance wear of your choice, white tennis shoes. All Pom students will order new silver shoes in January (the cost is $30).
Preschool or Combination Classes
These classes are especially made for our little ones: 2-1/2–6 years of age. We have a wonderful program set up for each age level. Children learn the basics of tap, ballet, and creative movement; they also acquire the vital motor skills needed in school sports and in the playground.
Dance Attire: Any kind of leotard and tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, and a dance bag.
Hip Hop
This is the newest street funk style of dance. It teaches routines, creativity, and body movement. It is a great cardiovascular workout!
Dance Attire: Dance wear of your choice and tennis shoes.
Tumbling
We offer different level suited for all ages. This is a wonderful way for children to enhance their motor skills, strength, and flexibility.
Adult Classes
We offer adult classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Clogging throughout the year.
Dance Attire:
Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear the required dance attire could result in students being asked to sit the class out. Please label ALL shoes and bags with your child’s name!
Boys Dance Attire: Shorts, pants, or cut-off sweats. Boys wear black tap and ballet shoes. White clogging shoes.
Hair: Students must have hair up off the neck to allow the instructor to observe the curvature of the spine and proper posture. Hair must be secured away from the face to eliminate distractions, avoid students having to push the hair away from the face, and help students to clearly observe the instructor while executing all moves in the most comfortable manner.
A bun is required for Ballet. A ponytail is fine for other classes. If hair is too short for a ponytail or bun, please make sure it is secured with barrettes, clips, bobby pins, etc.
Jewelry: Please do not wear jewelry, as it can get caought on something and break or even hurt a student when dancing or tumbling. No necklaces, bracelets, earrings, or watches, etc.
These policies help to ensure a fun and professional atmosphere for all dancers.
